My Arkansas unemployment claim decision needs an appeal

Weekly claims and appeals are distinct. A new claim or complaint may not appeal an existing determination; later review levels use different instructions.

No personal case facts or dates are requested or stored by this selector.

Qualifications & requirements

Source-backed qualifications and preparation information for all 15 topics, usable across all 75 Arkansas counties with the existing county routes. This is partial coverage, not an eligibility decision. Current income limits, program exceptions, local intake, funding and individual facts require confirmation. No professional legal review is recorded.

No specific qualifications profile is mapped to this situation yet. Use the linked program or receiving office to confirm eligibility, documents and exceptions before applying.

Appeal an unemployment determination to the Tribunal

Your next steps

  1. Keep the Notice of Agency Determination and its mailing date.
  2. Complete ARK-AT-213 or a letter explaining disagreement; include the decision copy.
  3. Submit using a handbook-approved channel and save proof.
  4. Continue required weekly claim steps while eligible and prepare for the hearing notice.

What forms or applications do I need?

How much time do I have, and when must I file?

Published period — confirm applicability

Period: 20 days from the mailing date of the Notice of Agency Determination.

What starts the clock: Mailing date shown on the agency determination.

What to do: File the Tribunal appeal.

Exceptions and checks: If late, promptly explain the circumstances and provide evidence; acceptance of a late appeal is not promised.

Authority: Arkansas UI Handbook 2026, Section 4. · Arkansas UI Handbook 2026 ↗

Where and how do I file?

Receiving office: Arkansas Appeal Tribunal.

Submission method: Mail P.O. Box 8013, Little Rock, AR 72203; email ADWS.UI.Hotline@arkansas.gov; or deliver to an Arkansas Workforce Center as the handbook permits.

Jurisdiction and venue: Statewide agency appeal.

Hot Spring County check: All county claimants use the Tribunal route; Workforce Center delivery is an allowed intake option, not a county-court filing.

Use the named agency, federal office or provider’s current instructions. County court filing contacts do not replace this submission route.

Before you submit: Verify signatures, attachments, current form edition, fees or fee-waiver process, service requirements, and whether the office must receive or accept the filing by the deadline. Keep the accepted copy or receipt and follow up on rejected submissions. A referral or phone call does not extend a separate deadline.

Limits: An appeal alone does not complete ongoing weekly claim requirements or guarantee benefits.

Seek Board review of a Tribunal unemployment decision

Your next steps

  1. Read the Tribunal decision and note its mailing date.
  2. Use ARK-BR-100 or the Board petition instructions and identify the challenged findings.
  3. File the petition with the Board and keep mailing or intake proof.
  4. Review later Board notices for briefing, record and judicial-review rights.

Published period — confirm applicability

Period: 20 days from the mailing date of the Tribunal decision.

What starts the clock: Mailing of the Appeal Tribunal decision.

What to do: File the Board review petition.

Exceptions and checks: A subsequent court appeal has a separate rule and period; do not reuse this period for judicial review.

Where and how do I file?

Receiving office: Arkansas Board of Review.

Submission method: Mail the petition to P.O. Box 8016, Little Rock, AR 72203; confirm any alternative accepted channel in current instructions.

Jurisdiction and venue: Statewide Board review of the Tribunal decision.

Hot Spring County check: Available to claimants from every county; file with the Board rather than a county clerk.

Limits: Board review is a separate level; sending a second Tribunal petition may not satisfy it.

What to do next

  1. Keep the complete determination and mailing information.
  2. Identify whether the decision is from DWS, Appeal Tribunal or Board of Review.
  3. Read the decision review instructions and promptly check its stated response period.
  4. Use the current form or accepted written route for that review level.
  5. Explain the disputed findings with a short work and claim timeline.
  6. Retain receipt proof and keep following applicable weekly claim instructions.
  7. Prepare for the scheduled review using the hearing notice and organized evidence.

How this process works

Who handles this issue

DWS issues initial determinations; Appeal Tribunal, Board of Review and Court of Appeals are distinct later routes.

Before you start

Identify issuing body and decision rather than assuming all denial letters go to the same office.

Filing or application route

Use the correct current claimant appeal form or accepted route and retain delivery evidence.

What happens next

The assigned body supplies hearing or review directions and a decision with later rights.

When to get qualified help

Get help for missed periods, wage or separation disputes, overpayments or court review.

Confirm for your county

Arkansas unemployment review serves all counties; confirm actual hearing format and any Workforce Center submission arrangements before traveling.

Choose the path that fits

  • Initial determination versus Tribunal or Board decision.
  • Appeal filing versus weekly claim certification.

Documents to gather

Keep originals secure. Use copies and redact sensitive details when sharing.

Checks are temporary and reset when this page is reloaded.

Questions to ask before acting

  • Which body issued this decision?
  • What review level comes next?
  • Must I keep filing weekly claims?
  • How do I submit evidence and attend?
  • What is the response method and deadline in my actual papers, and can I request language help, disability access or a fee waiver?

Use the responsible office current instructions and your actual papers. This checklist does not calculate deadlines or create representation.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Do not treat a phone question as an accepted appeal.
  • Do not reuse another review level form blindly.
  • Do not stop required reporting just because an appeal is pending.

Before filing, applying or traveling in Hot Spring County

  • Identify the actual court, division, agency or provider from your papers. Your home county alone may not determine the correct venue or office.
  • Confirm accepted submission methods, current forms, required attachments, fees or waiver options, and any separate service or notice requirement with the responsible office.
  • Read the dates and instructions on the actual notice. Keep delivery records, accepted submission receipts and the next appointment or hearing information.
  • Ask early about an interpreter, disability accommodations, a safe contact method, remote participation or travel needs. Confirm who receives the request.
  • For representation, ask about issue coverage, income rules, conflicts and intake capacity. A referral or application does not mean a lawyer has accepted the case.
