Before you apply or travel

Ask whether the provider serves your location and household, where intake happens and whether applications are open.
Confirm rent, deposits, fees, waiting lists, accessibility, household rules and transport arrangements directly.
Use secure provider channels for requested income or identity records. Verify the property manager before paying or sharing private information.
Keep applications, notices and decisions. Ask for alternatives if space or funding is unavailable, and follow up with the actual administrator.

If contacting a survivor service, use a safe device and contact method. If there is immediate danger, call emergency services. Shelter addresses remain confidential where the provider requires it.
